Le Dimanche 12 Août dans les jardins de l'hôtel ROYAL HAWAIIAN s'est déroulé la cérémonie funéraire de Mike. Cérémonie très royale digne du Grang Homme qu'étais Mike.

Le témoignage de plusieurs Hautes Personalités et amis du Va'a était des plus poignants tant par la qualité et l'humour. Un grand hommage à cet Homme de Dieu, cet Homme de Coeur, cet Homme de la Mer a été apporté par le Juge de cour de Hawaii, par des amis et adversaires rameurs et par son Grand ami de la Fondation Hawaiian Voyage Society, Capitaine du fameux HOKULEA, Mr Nainoa Thompson.

Le Président de la Polynésie Française, Mr Gaston Tong Sang, et tout sonGouvernement a, par le biais de notre Ministre de la Jeunesse et de Sports, Mr Clarentz Vernaudon, qui s'est déplacé personnelement, témoigné de son message de soutient à ce dirigeant, rameur et surtout Grand Ami de Tahiti ainsi qu'un message de soutient à Jan son Epouse ses enfants et toute sa famille. 

Mr Vernaudon qui est aussi constructeur de va'a (la renomée CALIN) et Président du club Taiarapu Va'a, a surtout mis le point sur les actions de Mike de garder notre culture Polynésienne au sein de notre sport du Va'a.

Dans l'après-midi les Cendres de Mike ont dété dispersées à Diamond head au spot de surf Tongg's devant plus d'une centaine de Va'a, bateaux privés et bateau des pompiers. L'Hommage suprème à ce grand Homme de la Mer.

Le coucher de soleil sur la pointe de la plage du Hilton au club de va’a ANUENUE là ou Mike et ses amis, Napi, Gaylord, Harry,Keith (mon cousin) et autres se retrouvent chaque soir pour un coup de rame ensemble, un grand "LUAU" (repas polynésien) a été offert à tous les amis du va'a de Mike. La grande reconnaissance pour le rameur, entraîneur et dirigeant qu'étais Mike.

Pour Rappel Mike a été Président du Waikiki Surf Club, de la Fédération Hawaiian de Va'a (HCRA) Président de la Fédération nternationale de Va'a (FIV) Il est d'ailleur toujours 2è Vice-Président de la FIV.

Last Sunday August 12th took place in the garden of the ROYAL HAWAIIAN Hotel Mike's Funeral Ceremonie. Royal Ceremonie in honnor of the Great Men that was Mike.

Testimony of several Hight personalities and friends of the Va'a was very keen by the quality and humor. A great Homage to this Men of God, this Men of Heart, this Men of the Sea has been given by the Honorable Judge of the Court of Hawaii, by friends and openent paddlers and by his Great Friend of Hawaiian Voyage Society Foundation, Captain of the famous HOKULEA, Mr Nainoa Thompson.

The President of French Polynesia, Mr Gaston Tong Sang, his Government have, through our Minister of Sports, Mr Clarentz Vernaudon  himself, testimonied of his unsheltered support to this leader, paddler and most of all the Great Friend of Tahiti. To Jan, their children and the whole family a message of sympathie and condolence.

Mr Vernaudon who is also a va’a builder (the well known CALIN), and also President of the Taiarapu Va’a Club, have pointed the fact that Mike had always put the Polynesian culture in front of our sport the Va’a.

In the afternoon Mike's ashes was scattered at Diamond Head in a Tongg's Surf spot in front of hundreds of va'a, private boat and fire men boat. The supreme tribute to a Great Men of the Sea.

The beautifull Sunset on the white sand beach of the Hilton where Mike and his friends, Napi, Gaylord, Harry, Keith(my cousin) and other got together with the Va’a Club of ANUENUE for a va’a training, a big "LUAU" was offered to all Mike’s Va’a friends. The Best recognation to the paddler, coach and leader that was Mike.
